# What is co-browsing?

Co-browsing means two people look at the same web page or app at the same time, and one of them helps. The supporter sees live what the user sees and can point, draw and, with permission, click themselves. Only this one page or app is shared, not the whole screen.

## Co-browsing, screen sharing and remote access

| | Co-browsing (Relyo) | Screen sharing (meeting tools) | Remote access |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------ | -------------------------- |
| What is shared | one browser tab or one app | screen or window | the whole computer |
| Installation | none | meeting app or browser | software on both sides |
| Sensitive fields | masked on the device | visible | visible |
| Control | only within this page or app, with consent | usually not | the whole computer |
| How the user joins | tap “Support”, read out a code | open a meeting link | download software, read ID |

Co-browsing fits when the problem is in your own website or app: a form that won’t submit, a setting someone can’t find, an error the user can’t describe. For problems with the operating system or other programs, remote access is the right tool.

## How Relyo works

1. The website or app includes the Relyo SDK and offers a “Support” entry.
2. The user taps it and reads out the 6-digit code.
3. The supporter enters the code on relyo.de, the user shares.
4. The page appears live for the supporter: for websites as page structure (not video, so sharp and lightweight), for Flutter apps as a sequence of images.

## Privacy in co-browsing

- **Consent first:** No screen data is sent without sharing on the device. Control needs a second consent.
- **Masking on the device:** Password fields, payment details and marked areas never leave the device in plain text.
- **No recording:** On relyo.de, screen content is only forwarded live.
- **Visible to the user:** A red frame and a status indicator show that a session is running, with “End” at any time.

## Adding co-browsing

For websites a script and a link are enough, for Flutter apps a dependency and one call at startup. Relyo is free and open source (0BSD licence).
